(July 14, 2019) The Spatola Racing team roared back into Sycamore Speedway in Maple Park, Illinois on Monday night, July 8 for the rain-postponed ending to a DIRTcar Summer Nationals visit. Mike Spatola III rolled off from the outside of the fourth row in the 50-lap, make-up feature from June 14 and he was able to pass a trio of competitors en route to a strong fifth place showing behind only $10,000 victor Bobby Pierce, Jason Feger, Ryan Unzicker, and Frank Heckenast, Jr. On Saturday evening, July 13, the #89 team was in the pit area at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois, as a $2,500 top prize was on the line in a weekly 'FALS Cup' showdown. Mike timed in seventh fastest overall during qualifying, ran fifth in his loaded heat race, and later advanced to eighth in the main event. Mike Spatola Steers to Top Ten in Hell Tour Stop at Farmer City
(July 7, 2019) Mike Spatola and his #89 team invaded Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois on Friday night, July 5 for a visit by the DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour. Mike timed in eighth fastest in his group during qualifying before securing the fifth and final transfer spot through his heat race. After starting the $10,000 to win feature event from the outside of the seventh row, Mike worked his way past a handful of competitors during the 50-lap affair to record a solid ninth place performance. Saturday's $2,500 to win weekly 'FALS Cup' program at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois was then washed out after heavy afternoon rainfall. Spatola Leads at Fairbury; Passed on Final Lap to Finish Second
(June 30, 2019) The Spatola Racing team made their way back to Fairbury American Legion Speedway in downtown Fairbury, Illinois on Saturday evening, June 29 for a weekly 'FALS Cup' showdown that paid $2,500 to the winner. Mike Spatola III stopped the clock fifth fastest overall during the qualifying session prior to placing third in heat race action. After starting the 30-lap feature from the inside of the third row, Mike bolted to the front of the field and had a spirited battle with Ricky Weiss for the point. "Opie" then led the majority of the second half of the contest before he was passed by Dennis Erb, Jr. on the final circuit, which dropped Mike to a runner-up performance. Mike Spatola Earns Top Tens at Hartford and Fairbury
(June 23, 2019) Mike Spatola III and his #89 team headed to Hartford Speedway in Hartford, Michigan and Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois on June 21-22 for a pair of Super Late Model special events. On Friday night in a $4,000 to win American Ethanol Late Model Tour (AELMT) showdown at Hartford, Mike placed seventh in his heat race and was involved in an early wreck in the 40-lapper before salvaging a steady ninth place feature performance out of the evening. At FALS on Saturday, the DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour rolled into Fairbury and a $10,000 top prize was on the line. "Opie" timed in third quickest in Group A during qualifying, ran second in his heat race, and eventually slipped to a tenth place effort in the 50-lap main event after a mid race skirmish left him with a flat left front tire. Spatola Nabs Top Ten in Summer Nationals Opener at Kankakee
(June 16, 2019) The Spatola Racing team kicked off what was supposed to be a busy three-race weekend on Thursday night, June 13 in the DIRTcar Summer Nationals lid lifter at Kankakee County Speedway in Kankakee, Illinois. Mike Spatola III timed in fourth fastest in his group during qualifying and ran second in his stacked heat race before winding up eighth in the final finishing order of the $5,000 to win headliner. A $10,000 top prize was then up for grabs on the "Hell Tour" on Friday evening at Sycamore Speedway in Maple Park, Illinois and Mike grabbed the third transfer spot through his heat race before Mother Nature intervened and postponed the feature event to July 8. Saturday's action was also wiped out by inclement weather, as races at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois and Dirt Oval at Route 66 in Joliet, Illinois both rained out. (May 26, 2019) Mike Spatola III and his #89 team were back in the pit area at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois and Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois on May 24-25. On Friday night in a $1,000 to win weekly program at Farmer City, Mike timed in eleventh quickest in qualifying, ran sixth in his heat race, and later climbed to eighth in the headliner. At FALS in a $3,000 to win special on Saturday evening, "Opie" laid down the eleventh fastest lap in time trials and ran third in his heat race prior to vaulting up to fourth in the feature event. (May 19, 2019) The Spatola Racing team invaded both Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois and Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois for a pair of weekly shows on May 17-18. On Friday night in a $1,000 to win program at FCR, Mike Spatola III earned Fast Time honors during qualifying, finished second in his heat race, and later advanced up to second in the A-Main to trail only victor Allen Weisser. (May 12, 2019) With Saturday's annual 'FALS Frenzy' at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in downtown Fairbury, Illinois succumbing to persistent afternoon rain showers, the #89 team entered one lone event over the May 10-11 weekend on Friday evening at Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois. A $10,000 top prize was on the line in the 'Farmer City 74' and a whopping 52 entrants piled into the pit area at the 1/4-mile fairgrounds facility. Mike Spatola III laid down the seventh fastest time in Group B during qualifying and later placed fourth in his loaded heat race. Following a triumph in his B-Main, Mike wound up nineteenth in the final finishing order of the 74-lap headliner. (May 5, 2019) Mike Spatola III and his #89 team ventured to Fairbury American Legion Speedway in downtown Fairbury, Illinois on Saturday evening, May 4 for a weekly Super Late Model battle, which paid $2,500 to the winner and drew a stellar field of cars. Mike stopped the clock third fastest overall during qualifying prior to placing third in his stacked heat race. After starting the 30-lap feature event from the inside of the sixth row, Mike was able to move up inside of the top ten - eventually guiding his #89 Rocket XR1 car to a steady ninth place showing.
